Report from Troop Log

About 18 boys and SM W.Hill walked over the Right of Way. We got the Smithton bus to Smithton then walked to the beginning of the path, where two bridges were built across a deep ditch using only staves. Both bridges withstood the weight of SM W. Hill.

The party then went on to the pond where we had a short rest before the Woodpigeons, Curlews and Foxes went on ahead to ambush the Peewits and S.M.

The Peewits scouted about the woods looking for signs of the others but found only TL George Brown and Johnston Patterson were out on their own.

The Peewits then proceeded on over the moor to ‘The Tree’  above the Cloch road where we found the others. On the way, we stopped at a burn to wash our feet. There were many interesting creatures in the pool.

At The Tree, sandwiches were eaten then a pulley was erected to hoist boys up the tree. Latterly, a rope ladder was made.

On coming down to the Cloch road, Austin Craigue got an unexpected mud bath. We came back via the Cloch. Weather was perfect.
