Log Books and other Primary Sources
1. INTRODUCTION
The following primary sources have been used in generating this website. Links (shown in blue) are provided to transcripts of relevant primary sources. The transcripts are generally faithful reproductions of the primary sources. However, slight modifications to the punctuation and wording have occasionally been made. Any pictures or cartoons that are present have been scanned from the original and many of these have been edited to remove yellowing, scratches and blemishes. The documents also include additional editiorial notes and explanations.
2. TROOP LOGS
The following are the Troop Logs that have been identified to date. Unfortunately, none of the Troop Logs from the 1930s have been traced, and only one of the Troop Logs from the 1940s has been recovered. It is believed that several log books were distributed to ex members at an event commerorating the 60th anniversary of the 70th Group. The Troop Log covering part of the war years was donated by Dr. Robin McDougall. The Troop logs covering the 1950s and 1960s are more complete, but there are one or two missing troop logs which were certainly written at the time and may be sitting in some attic somewhere.

3. PATROL LOGS
The following are the Patrol Logs that have been identified to date. Most of the Patrol Logs that were written were probably distributed to ex- members of the patrols during the 60th anniversary celebrations in the 1990s. Those that have been recovered to date have provided invaluable information which has often filled in the gaps left by missing Troop Logs. The Patrol Logs also provide more detailed information regarding the progress of the individuals in the patrol, than would be found in troop logs.
