Cycle Trip to St. Catherines
Date unknown - thought to be at some point between 1944 and 1946
Novices Camp 1979: Text
Oral interview with Eric Phillips
Eric Phillips was PL of the Curlew Patrol towards the end of the war and remembers that the Troop did several cycle trips during that period. The most ambitious of these was a day trip to St. Catherines and back. This involved catching the ferry to Dunoon. From there, they cycled to Sandbank then followed the road round the head of the Holy Loch before continuing north up the east side of Lock Eck to Glenbranter. From there, they travelled over to Loch Fyne via Strachur, then up the east side of Loch Fyne to St. Catherines. The same route was taken on the journey back.
